Course Overview

Learning & Development Practitioners are involved with identifying training needs, designing educational resources, delivering and evaluating training, and working with stakeholders. The Learning and Development Practitioner will have expertise and competence within their specific field, whether it be technical, vocational, or behavioural. They link the learning within their area of responsibility to business objectives and performance, understanding the learning cycle and working by it.

The role can be more specialist, with a focus on and requiring in-depth expertise in a specific area of Learning & Development such as learning design, e-learning or blended learning. Whichever of these is an area of focus, the practitioner is future focused, understands the business culture and has a good grounding across the whole training and learning cycles. 

The role typically exists in a wide range of organisations including private, public and third sector, supporting learning and development to contribute to, and influence, improved performance in the workplace. Typically, the practitioner would work alongside colleagues who specialise in Human Resources often supported by an Administrator and report to a Learning & Development Manager.

What & How you'll learn

End Point Assessment​

The End Point Assessment (EPA) will only commence once the Employer, Apprentice, and Protocol Consultancy Services are confident that the apprentice has developed all the knowledge, skills, and behaviours defined in the apprenticeship standard. Evidence of this will also be visible throughout the progress review meetings and records. The independent EPA ensures that all apprentices consistently achieve the industry-set professional standard. The EPA can commence at any point once the apprentice is competent and after the twelve-month minimum period of learning and development. However, before the independent EPA can take place, the apprentice must have completed their functional skills components in English and Maths.

Off the Job (OJT)

The apprentice must receive off-the-job training for a minimum of 20% of the time they are paid to work.
