As of April 2019, Protocol has secured funding through the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). Through this, we are looking to work with Black Country businesses located within the council areas of Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall, and Wolverhampton. The aim is to develop training plans to identify and tackle skills gaps, helping you grow your business.
SSW is an initiative for small and medium-sized businesses in the Black Country.
It offers fully-funded training and qualifications to support the development of individuals to improve their career opportunities and existing skills. Serco manages the Skills Support for the Workforce programme, with ESF and ESFA co-financing it. As a result, we can support your workforce at no extra cost to your business. We provide bespoke training courses to enhance your employees’ skills, increase the competitiveness of your business, and boost the local economy.
Protocol Consultancy Services is part of Serco’s network of expert organisations chosen to deliver the SSW programme in your area in partnership with Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
Would you or your employees be interested in attending a fully-funded taster training session or a bespoke training programme (Level 1 to Level 4 available)?
We are offering one and two-day workshops, as well as the opportunity of bespoke training programmes.

Protocol are also working on this contract with other training providers from all sectors that offer training in areas we do not. This allows staff to receive training across every aspect of your organisation, including engineering, construction, etc.
Protocol has a Training Needs Analysis document that would need to be completed by each employer to find out what their current and future training needs are.
If a business has more than 5 employees they would like to train (on the same course) we may be able to offer the training sessions on-site at the employer premises. Providing the employer has the appropriate training facilities.
Once we have gauged the need for specific training, we will look to see if we can offer any of the training you need and work with you to help upskill existing staff. This may be through an NVQ or a full intermediate or advanced Apprenticeship. We will also be offering our recruitment services to any employer who is currently looking to employ an Apprentice.
