In July 2020, the government announced its Plan for Jobs scheme. This scheme will launch a wave of 30,000 new Traineeships for young people and financial incentives for employers. An additional £111 million will be provided this year for Traineeships in England to fund high-quality work placements and training for 16-24-year-olds.
The government will also be expanding the eligibility for Traineeships to those with Level 3 qualifications and below. This ensures more young people have access to the high level of training they need to progress further within employment.
