My journey prior to starting the apprenticeship with Protocol and RMF was slightly different to that of the other learners due to my age and non-native English speaking background. Despite this, Protocol treated me equally to everyone else, helped me move past any barriers through added support, and fulfilled my educational needs. Throughout this apprenticeship, with the support of Protocol and their dedicated members of staff, I have been able to improve my knowledge and skills relating to business management and its principles.
I chose an apprenticeship to gain real-world experience and confidence in my chosen field. The hands-on learning, mentorship, and practical application of knowledge appealed to me. It also allowed me to earn while learning and avoid significant student debt, making it an ideal choice for my career development.
I was unaware that I am a kinaesthetic learner until I had it confirmed through an assessment at Protocol, and this revelation has significantly benefited both my personal and professional life. I’ve become more proficient in managing my responsibilities, and my ability to grasp and internalize British values has improved considerably.
My biggest challenge was making sense of the role of a business administrator. Responsibilities cover a vast area and absorbing all of the relevant information proved to be a worthy challenge. I did however manage to learn from my training advisors, mentor, and fellow staff members, achieving a pass at my end-point assessment.
Within the next 5 years, I want to transition into the role of Office Manager, having achieved the training, qualifications, and experience needed to help the business excel.
Within the next year, I fully transition into the role of document controller and then office supervisor by the following year, ultimately leading me to my end goal of Office Manager.
