Briefly state your journey prior to starting your Apprenticeship at Protocol?

Before starting my Apprenticeship, I had graduated from University in Business Management, and then joined The Adecco Group. I worked on the Financial Processing team for just over a year, and then was promoted to Senior on the Contact Centre team, where I had been for a few months before beginning my apprenticeship.

Why did you choose an apprenticeship?

I chose to do an apprenticeship as it gave me the opportunity to acquire new skills and knowledge and apply this directly into my role. I was looking to work towards the next step in my career, and the Team Leader course was the perfect way to aid that goal.

How has the apprenticeship programme helped you personally and professionally?

The course has taught me many valuable skills including Leadership, Managing a small team, improved my communication and gave me experience in managing the success of projects. I was able to apply this directly into my role and this opened up opportunities for me in the workplace. Personally, I gained confidence in the process, I improved upon my Time Management and became more self aware of my own skills and qualities.

What has been the biggest challenge you have faced since you started your apprenticeship?

The biggest challenge for me was keeping on top of the evidence of everything I had done. As my role can be very demanding I often found it challenging to balance the course with the demands of my role. However the support I was given from the tutors at Protocol was outstanding and this was easily overcame.

Where do you see yourself in the future

In 5 years I hope to have made an impact at my new company and look forward to where I may go with my career

Within the next year, I will be starting a new role as Operations Coordinator in a software production company. This will involve coordinating all financial activities around the software projects, shaping the processes and strategic direction of the company as they grow within the software space.
