Before starting my Apprenticeship at Protocol, I worked as a Teaching Assistant, supporting learners and helping them achieve their goals. During this time, I developed a passion for education and decided to further enhance my skills and knowledge within the FE sector to progress in my career and make a greater impact on learners.
I chose an apprenticeship because it allows me to gain practical experience while continuing to learn and develop my skills. I wanted a hands-on approach where I could apply theory in a real working environment, earn while I learn and gain a recognised qualification that supports my career progression in the FE sector.
The apprenticeship programme has helped me grow both personally and professionally. Personally, it has boosted my confidence and improved my ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and learners. Professionally, it has given me valuable knowledge of the FE sector, enhanced my teaching and organisational skills and provided me with a recognised qualification that supports my career.
The biggest challenge I have faced since starting my apprenticeship has been balancing work responsibilities with the study requirements. Although I was allocated time, I would sometimes feel like my work duties should take priority. Managing my time effectively was difficult at first, but I developed better organisational skills and learned how to prioritise tasks which has helped me stay on track and meet deadlines.
