My primary duties revolve around making sure statements are sent out on time each day. In addition, I ensure standing orders get completed daily professionally and efficiently. I also complete enquiries for the managers.
I initially joined Protocol through my local Job Centre who placed me on a Skills Conditionality programme. This was an 8-week course where I learned how to write a CV, Cover Letter, and how to behave in an interview. I also improved my Maths, English, and ICT Functional Skills. After that, Protocol found me an Apprenticeship at Short Term Finance where I am currently undertaking a Business Admin Level 2 qualification.
In our offices the working environment is very friendly and sociable, placing me in a position where I can meet new people daily, and therefore learn more about the business and each staff member’s role in it. As well as the social aspect, the atmosphere is very professional, as is the work itself, with staff members dedicated to providing an effective service for its customers.
Many of my daily tasks involve working with my immediate manager, ensuring quality control, and my ever-growing ability to complete assignments correctly, as well as colleagues of all ages, varying from 16 to 60.
Completing the standing orders and learning new things in the workplace are the things that I enjoy most about my job, as it allows me to see where I may fit within the business down the line.
Dealing with customers’ and managers’ enquiries can at times cause difficulty for instance when a customer asks a question that I haven’t answered before, I can be unsure of the correct way to respond.
I keep calm and if there is something I don’t understand then I do not hesitate to ask my manager. This allows me to gain the relevant information and experience for next time so I don’t need assistance.
