What are your main responsibilities?

My primary duties revolve around creating organic content for various social media platforms. I also assist with adding new properties to our website and create blog posts about exciting accessible holiday opportunities.

Pathway Selected

Originally, I applied for the position of Social Media & Digital Marketing apprentice through the .gov website. After that, I attended an interview at Protocol. A pre-employment course was then provided to strengthen my employability skills. After my interview with Enable Holidays, I began a week long trial to see how well I would operate within the job role and dynamic of the business. As a result, I was then offered a full-time position as a level 3 Social Media apprentice.

What is your working environment like?

A small office-based environment with departments all located near each other, allowing for collaboration as and when is needed. All staff members are very friendly and helpful, providing useful information that they have gathered through years worth of experience in the travel industry.

Who do you work with? (Departments, Work colleagues)

Based within the digital marketing department, I work closely with my immediate manager, planning and scheduling day to day organic activity on social media. In addition, I work with the sales team, using them as useful tools of information when creating compelling content about a destination or accessible property.

What do you like about your job?

I enjoy learning about the processes that go into the effective use of social media, as it is not as simple as people believe it to be. I’m also fond of the working environment, as everyone is very friendly and open, making it a fun place to go to every day. Finally, I enjoy feeling that my daily actions are helping people, as Enable Holidays are an accessible travel company that caters to the needs of the physically disabled, making the job very rewarding.

What are the main challenges you face on a daily basis?

Creating new and exciting content that will drive traffic to our social media pages and website, in the hopes of achieving holiday bookings. This is something I do everyday, but sometimes the content is harder to write than others. Simply, I am trying to avoid using the same old material and look to develop it each time. Making it more and more difficult as time goes on.

How do you overcome these challenges, should you require assistance?

Examining other social media pages can be very useful, as they provide helpful insights into how we can engage with our target audience. This inspires me to create compelling content, using relevant information in a way that, both, appeals to the intended viewer as well as adhering to the Enable Holidays brand.
