At my new job role at Waterloo Housing Association, my main responsibilities are operating the switchboard, ensuring messages are taken accurately and forwarded to the relevant person by email, ensure visitors and customers are greeted with ID issued and visitors book completed, ensure that corporate leaflets and information is kept up to date and displayed in a tidy manner, raise repair orders with contractors, advertise vacant properties with local authorities, contact applicants shortlisted for vacant properties and arrange appointments, provide support to maintain team targets, carry out typing/filing duties, maintain working stock levels, ensure the reception is kept neat and tidy at all times and to open, distribute, frank, receive and record accurately all post for the organisation.
I selected the apprenticeship route because it allows me to earn a wage whilst gaining a qualification and work experience on the job. I chose this type of work because I enjoy meeting new people and working in as part of a team, I also want to improve my communication skills and I believe this type of work will allow me to do so.
The working environment at Waterloo Housing Association is an office based working environment with desks and office equipment, the equipment includes computers, phones, stationary etc… The main challenges at Waterloo Housing Association include the workload; there are always multiple tasks that need completing.
I work with a small team of people in the reception area and am also in regular contact with managers in the company.
When it comes to my job at Waterloo Housing Association the main aspect I like is the friendliness of the staff there, they are always available to help whenever I have a problem.

Time management is key when overcoming these challenges, I simply have to focus on what needs completing immediately and then make my way through the pile.
