Briefly state your journey prior to starting your Apprenticeship at Protocol?

I previously completed a Level 2 and Level 3 Business Admin apprenticeship with another training provider while employed at Vaults Security. As my role changed after I was qualified from Admin assistant to Administrator, I wished to complete a team leader qualification short- ly after becoming established in my Office Manager position.

Why did you choose an apprenticeship?

I had done two previously and felt the qualification offered would compliment my new position within the business. I also wanted to learn new skills to put into practice as a manager and mentor to others.

How has the apprenticeship programme helped you personally and professionally?

Personally it has helped most with making be become more self aware and confident in myself.

Professionally it has enabled me to learn new skills including leadership styles to help me develop as a leader and evaluate my own leadership role.

What has been the biggest challenge you have faced since you started your apprenticeship?

Written Questions—for many of the modules, I felt there was little structure for certain modules when learning about them during our days spent at Proto- col. It felt like a lot of hopping around and I felt it may be more beneficial if the sessions were laid out more clearly so that we know that the first 10 slides of the day will relate to Written Questions 1.1-1.4 for Project Management etc. Ultimately I found myself spending a lot of time going back through the PowerPoints and using Moodle to try and answer the written questions. Although when you have more than one qualification in the same class it can be difficult to tailor them to suit everyone’s individual qualification

Where do you see yourself in the future

Within the next 5 years, I want to establish my own IT business. Possibly starting a family along the way after travelling and learning as much as I can from my experiences.

Within the next year, I want to become a role model and successful mentor to a team of individuals at Vaults.
