The best way to resolve issues that I haven’t encountered before is to ask the helpful team of people that I am surrounded by everyday, using them as a resource to learn from and develop as I progress through my apprenticeship.
Throughout my weeks work, my responsibilities revolve around preventing any issues from occurring with the company computers, resolving any issues that do occur and updating our systems so that they don’t happen again.
I finished High School and decided to join a college. Like most people I realised that college was not for me, so decided to leave to pursue other avenues. The trouble was that I had no idea what I wanted to do so I decided to undertake an apprenticeship.
I started with Gordon Franks on a foundation level apprenticeship who then and referred me to Protocol Consultancy Services who offered me the chance to undertake an Intermediate Apprenticeship in IT.
Even though I was only there a short time, Protocol helped me with my skills and found me a job as an IT technician within a High School no to far from where I live.
My working environment is very busy, with students coming and going all day long who require assistance with any IT problems that may have occurred.
I work within a small team including my mentor who is currently assisting in the development of my skills through internal training.
IT is something that I am really interested in, so I like being able to gain technical skills in a field that I am passionate about instead of just working for the sake of it. Another aspect of my role that I enjoy is helping students with any problems that they have in relation to their use of computers and providing them with the knowledge of how to resolve the issue themselves next time if it’s an easy fix.
The main challenge that I face is trying to resolve issues that I haven’t encountered before and solving them whilst learning at the same time.
The best way to resolve issues that I haven’t encountered before is to ask the helpful team of people that I am surrounded by everyday, using them as a resource to learn from and develop as I progress through my apprenticeship.
